چکیده
The traditional approach of strength materials applied to failure unidirectional fiber reinforced composites is examined in view the mechanisms observed. While elastic limit isotropic such as metals given by measured yield and reflects manifestation underlying crystalline slip processes that not case for are orthotropic have different independent operative under axial tension, compression, transverse in-plane shear. paper discusses why generalization theories textured symmetry cannot be used describing composites. Furthermore, criteria proposed literature describe interactions combined loading scrutinized clarify their inadequacy treat those interactions. use tractions on an assumed plane formulate also discussed without basis Finally, a way forward physical modeling proposed.

Compressive response and failure of fiber reinforced unidirectional composites
The compressive response of polymer matrix fiber reinforced unidirectional composites (PMC’s) is investigated via a combination of experiment and analysis. The study accounts for the nonlinear constitutive response of the polymer matrix material and examines the effect of fiber geometric imperfections, fiber mechanical properties and fiber volume fraction on the measured compressive strength an...

Three-dimensional transient deformations of a laminate comprised of several unidirectional fiber reinforced layers perfectly bonded to each other and subjected to a blast load are analyzed by the finite element method with an in-house developed, verified and fully validated code with rate-dependent damage evolution equations for anisotropic bodies. The continuum damage mechanics approach employ...

objective: reinforcement with fiber is an effective method for considerable improvement in flexural properties of indirect composite resin restorations. the aim of this in-vitro study was to compare the transverse strength of composite resin bars reinforced with preimpregnated and non-impregnated fibers. materials and methods: thirty six bar type composite resin specimens (3×2×25 mm) were const...
متن کاملFiber reinforced plastic composites using recycled materials
This work investigates the feasibility of using recycled high density polyethylene (rHDPE), recycled polypropylene (rPP) and old newsprint fiber (ONP) to manufacture fiber reinforced composites. The boards were made through air-forming and hot press. The effects of the fiber loading and coupling agent content on tensile, flexural, internal bond properties and water absorption and thickness swel...
